A few of the passing visitors comment that they've no idea who we're referring to in our news and match reports because we use nicknames so often, so this page aims to be of assistance!  Here's a short glossary of terms - including nicknames - for the uninitiated:

The Mighty - Poloc Cricket Club;

The 'Loc - [usually] the 1st XI, though sometimes generically any side;

The 'Holmboys - the 2nd XI;

The 'Locsters - [usually] a junior Poloc side;

the policies - Shawholm, home of Poloc Cricket Club;

CJ's tree - the large tree at "cow corner" batting from the river end;

Buffties - club elder statesmen, most often seen circling the boundary rope during matches;

Giffer/GFR - Gordon Martin, Bar Convenor;

Wee Dunky - Jimmy Duncanson, Membership Secretary;

Stoorie - Stuart Allan;

Adsy - Ian Adshead;

Moss - Colin Scott, Ground Convenor;

GK - Gordon Kennedy, Club Secretary;

Stevo - Stephen Brown, President;

Johno - John Hardy;

Rebel Alliance - Poloc, when referred to in context of something involving local rivals Clydesdale;

The 'Dale/The Evil Empire/The Dark Side - Clydesdale Cricket Club;

Chief Darth: Tim Hart of Clydesdale Cricket Club;

Stormtroopers - Clydesdale Cricket Club players

The Deathstar/Toytown - Titwood, home of Clydesdale Cricket Club;

Feegie - Ferguslie Cricket Club;

Uddy - Uddingston Cricket Club;

Drumps - Drumpellier Cricket Club;

Killie - Kilmarnock Cricket Club;

Glasgow's second best club - West of Scotland Cricket Club; and

Castle Greyskull - Ravelston, Edinburgh, head offices of Cricket Scotland.
